Our Background

One Life Church was founded in 1973. Since our inception we have made it a priority to preach the good news to the poor. Historically we have planted churches, sites and developed numerous social justice initiatives. Presently, the church runs as a multi-site collection of congregations and is spread geographically from Dundee (Northern Natal) to Durban, and more recently we have planted a site in the mediterranean (Malta), which is likely to change our reach, influence and the way we operate.

It has become necessary for us to consolidate our numerous social justice initiatives into a single, highly professional, well-governed NPO. This NPO is the One Life Foundation, which carries Section 18A status and has black beneficiary accreditation as well as BEE rating. The social justice  initiatives were originally centered in the France and Imbali communities (which are high density settlements in the Pietermaritzburg region). We have established community centers and social justice hubs in these areas, which serve as models and bases to the projects which are now being run further afield.

When you give to the One Life Foundation you are able to specify exactly where your donation goes – should there be a specific project you’d like to support. Alternatively, you can give into the general fund, which allows the Foundation to distribute the resources across all projects and sustain those that attract less funding. Visit our gallery to view the list of projects and find further information in this regard.

The Foundation’s management team is highly skilled in project management, social work and administration. Our goal is to develop sustainable projects in multiple communities all over KwaZulu Natal. We aim to achieve this by developing social justice hubs and a broad base of projects, which are led and resourced in these regions. The board which governs the foundation comprises of members from industry and includes professionals with a wide variety of skills.

We believe our mandate is to stand alongside “the least of these”, as Jesus does. We invite you to partner with us in preaching the Good News to the poor. Contact us to find out more about the initiatives that interest you, and for details on how you can volunteer your time or financially assist these projects.
